
With a population of 59,530, Canyon Country is a community located in Los Angeles County. In 1987, Canyon Country was one of four communities that merged to create the city of Santa Clarita. Also part of the merge was Valencia, Newhall, and Saugus.
Located in Canyon Country is the Placerita Canyon Nature Center, which is home to the “Oak of the Golden Dream,” California’s original gold discovery of 1842. The park consists of several hiking trails leading to a seasonal waterfall and to the top of the Santa Clarita Divide. Placerita Canyon Nature Center serves to not only conserve the wild environment, but also to educate the public.
